Testimonial:
This project began when a young couple—both dentists running a busy family practice—reached out for help turning their New York City apartment into a home that truly reflected their style and pace of life. With a newborn and limited time, they had started furnishing but quickly realized the space lacked the mood and energy they envisioned.
From our first conversation, it was clear this prewar co-op called for a moody, sophisticated vibe. We leaned in—beginning in the entryway. A black lacquer wallcovering from Donghia wraps the ceiling in a high-gloss finish, illuminated by a soft, ambient chandelier. Below, a custom wood slat wall pairs with a floating console and an oversized mirror that gleams like liquid metal.
In the living area, we designed two custom built-ins flanking the fireplace. Curved uppers soften the linear architecture, while cabinetry below conceals toys. A quartz countertop stretches across the base—offering extra surface for entertaining where a traditional sideboard wouldn’t fit.
Fornasetti wallpaper lines the back of each bookcase—a subtle nod to the clients’ love of the artist’s work, reinterpreted in a fresh, unexpected way.
Polished, bold, and quietly playful, this apartment is designed for a stylish young family and filled with thoughtful layers that spark a sense of mood, intimacy, and just the right amount of wow.
