As a Brooklyn native, so much of who I am was shaped by the rhythm of the city, and for me, that began at Broadway Junction, a major train station in East New York.
Growing up just blocks away, the station was more than a transit hub; it was the backdrop to my everyday life, where cultures collided and people from every corner of Brooklyn intersected. Whether I was heading to school, starting my first job, or simply taking it all in, Broadway Junction embodied movement, connection, and possibility.
The Junction Collection is a tribute to those moments. Each design captures the energy of that space, and the city beyond with patterns that echo the flow of the people and trains. This collection is grounded in memory, motion, and the magic of crossing paths.
Embedded memories of the stained glass installations at Broadway Junction inspired this piece. It channels the tension between fragility and grit; translating shifting light and color into a layered, luminous pattern.
Inspired by a concrete ramp at Broadway Junction that I used to sprint up (sometimes falling) ,always rushing; this rug captures the station’s energy with bold, chaotic lines and a reminder not to take life too seriously.
Inspired by the iconic NYC subway map that links all five boroughs, this rug reflects how the system connects not just train lines, but people, stories, and the shared rhythm of city life.
Inspired by the striking spikes installed to deter pigeons, this rug interprets a utilitarian element that’s prominent at Broadway Junction and transforms it into a graphic motif that speaks to the unexpected beauty found in overlooked details.
Inspired by the movement required to navigate the city, this rug reflects the shifts we make to progress. The interconnecting lines trace journeys across platforms, staircases, and city blocks toward where we’re meant to be.
Inspired by the five train lines that pass through Broadway Junction, this design honors the many routes and their cadence that transported me to school, work, and various other moments that shaped who I am.
Loosely inspired by the architectural details of Broadway Junction’s exterior and the grid that defines New York City, this design incorporates structure and pattern to reflect the city’s ever-present order beneath the chaos.
Each section is a modern interpretation of the five boroughs. The repetitive lines are a representation on the continuous comings and goings of the city.
